How to build self-discipline

Looking for a plan of action to build your self-discipline? Just follow these steps and you will be on your way.

  • Don’t bite off more than you can chew – start small and build momentum from there.
  • Be consistent week-to-week – think about some habits you have carved in stone in your life already, such as bed time, and try to mimic that behavior as you seek to create new habits

  • Plan for the “down” days – there will always be days when you won’t feel like working out or eating healthy but try to follow through with your plan on those days anyways.
  • Always execute and follow through with what you say you will follow through with – for example, if you say you’re going to workout at 3pm every day, then take that commitment seriously. Plan ahead, create reminders, tell people, and show up at all costs! That being said, be conscientious and practical-minded when giving out your word!

  • Not everything has to be done at 100% – remember that showing up consistently yet working at a slower level is better than not showing up at all. Just keep showing up and remember that life is a marathon and not a sprint.
  • If you want to continually improve over the long term, then think long term. Short term thinking only yields short term results whereas ong term thinking will yield long term results.

Must See Attractions in Montreal and Quebec City

Two of the most beautiful cities in North America are Montreal and Quebec City, and if you are fortunate to be visiting either, you must see some of these attractions.

Montreal Attractions

Basilique Notre-Dame

This mammoth cathedral was designed by Irish architect James O’Donnell and built between 1824 and 1829. This Catholic church has a stunning medieval-style interior that features walnut-wood carvings, stained-glass windows, 24-carat gold stars in a vaulted blue ceiling, and one of the largest Casavant organs in North America.

Parc du Mont-Royal

Mont-Royal’s steep slopes cover more than 343 acres of forested mountain, providing green spaces, shrubs and flowers, as well as habitats for hundreds of birds and other wildlife. Designed in 1876 by Frederick Law Olmsted, Mont-Royal is a delight in the centre of the city. In fact, as an all-year round destination, you can skate, cycle, paddle boat and toboggan.

Parc Olympique

Parc Olympique was built for the 1976 Olympic Games costing over $1.4 billion, even though most remained unfinished until the 1980s. Plus, the retractable roof never really worked. However, visitors can easily spend a day or two watching the various exhibitions, sights and activities available.

Quebec City Attractions

La Citadelle

Set atop Cap Diamant in Quebec City, this installation of 10 buildings is the largest military fortification in North America. Overlooking the St. Lawrence River, the site was begun by the French in 1750, but much was constructed by the British between 1820 and 1850 to defend the city from a possible US invasion in the 19th century.

Ile d’Orléans

Ile d’Orleans was one of the first European settlements in the New World, and is referred to as the cradle of French civilization in North America. When Jacques Cartier arrived here in 1535, the six parishes along this 30-km island maintained many of the French traditions of the first settlers, and over 600 heritage buildings present a preserved architectural gem.

The Best Action Movies on Amazon Prime Video

Netflix may still be dominating the market share, but Amazon Prime Video is gaining ground, and that’s in large part thanks to their great selection of action movies! Here are four of the best action movies you can stream on Amazon Prime Video right now!

Cloverfield. Chaos, carnage, and a monster, what more could you ask for? J.J. Abrams brings us a fantastic found-footage thriller and tells the story of a farewell party in New York City that turns deadly once a giant monster decides to crash it (and much of the city).

Kick-Ass. A fan favorite if ever there was one, Kick-Ass took theatres by storm upon its release and still enjoys a solid following to this very day. Follow along as a nerdy high school kid with an unhealthy love of comic books decides to become a superhero, despite having no powers, no special skills, and no clue what he’s doing.

Patriot Games. In case you hadn’t noticed, Amazon Prime Video is big on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. If you’re looking for a bit of nostalgia, you can revisit a still relatively young Harrison Ford’s foray as the fictional CIA agent.

The Running Man. Netflix may have removed the original Terminator movie, but for our money we’d rather watch The Running Man anyway. Set in a dystopian 2019 (well, maybe they got a few things wrong) a convicted criminal (Arnold Schwartzeneger) is pitted against professional killers as part of America’s hottest TV show.
